Cracked Rear View, 2010

“Do you want this,” a family friend asked as he held up an ornate but clearly damaged convex mirror.  Those who know me know that I have an appreciation for Damaged Things.  I collect these items the way some people collect traffic signs or nips of booze with funny names.

But they are mine.

I am not always successful in creating something beautiful from them, but this is one that I am proud of.  The quality of the photo and editing process turned this from what could have been landfill to something that hangs on my wall – a reminder that the Broken Things, the Damaged Things are complete in their own way.

You just have to look a little deeper.
